Ebstein’s and pacemakers
03/01/11
My mother has Ebsteins and WPW and her doctors have decided to put in a pacemaker. Has anyone else had this procedure done to help with ebstein symtoms? She is only 52 and on all the sites I’ve read, they say pacemakers are rarely used in ebstein patients.

I have EA. I am a 33 year old female. But my response isn’t in relation to me. A family friend also has EA and had a valve replacement in the spring of 2010. A few months later she ended up having a pacemaker put in as well to help control her heart beat. I don’t know much more than that, but hopefully that helps a little.

I just saw your comment about your mother being fitted with a pacemaker. It is difficult to comment without knowing more about your mother’s condition and the reason they are putting in a pacemaker.
However I can say that I have unoperated Ebstein’s and am in my 70′s and had a pacemaker put in about 3 years ago. It was meant to keep me out of AF but it has failed at that but it now enables me to have drugs to control the rate without having to worry about my pulse getting too slow. It is quite comfortable when it is pacing.

Hi. I am 45 years old. Due to scarring from 2 heart operations i developed Af. I had a pacemker implanted 10 years ago. It together with drug (particularly amiodarone) helps keep my rythm relatively even and out of AF. This in turn had helped with my ebsteins as it allows me to be active (relatively speaking).I do though have to rely on lasix to stop fluid build up as ebsteins, wpw and and asd has impeded my heart’s function.
All in all i live a reasonably active BUT sensible life.
Oh i should alos say that i had a valve replacement. It doesn’t fix my ebsteins but it helps

Hello… I was born with Ebstein Anomaly which i have a leaking tricuspid valve, I did eventually have my open heart surgery to replace my tricuspid valve with pig valve last May 18th and also got a pacemaker put in on may 24th due to heart chamber not communicating right. so now so far i am doing very well and recovering well… i am age 28.
